Would i be pushin too much power if i threw 1000 to 1200 watts to one of these things. Cuz i know they are rated at 750 but i heard you can throw a decent amount more to them. So what do you guys think?

JL says its fine to put up to 1500 watts RMs without failure.

i don't have the sub yet....my friend is sellin it to me. And i just wanted to know real quick. Cuz i wouldn't want it if i couldn't throw 1200 to it. Sorry i asked. But thanks for the info.

they are 3 ohm subs, so that has to be 1200 at 3 ohms. i don't think those Hifonics are going to be putting out quite that much power

yea the only way ull be throwing that much is getting either a 1000/1 or an extremely overpowering amp wired at 3 ohms...they are tricky bastards gettin you to buy their shit

Can't they be wired any different? And if i got an amp that can put up 1200 at 4 ohm how would that be on my electrical if its a 1 ohm stable amp. Would i be drawing the same amount of amps as i would be from a 1200 x 1 at 1 ohm? And what do you guys think. Should i just keep my kickers and get a bigger amp or should i get the jl for the sound quality? Or just look for totally whole new subs?

a w7? Have you heard it before. I've heard a couple and I personally don't think they sound good, really really boomy.

i think you could wire them to 1.5ohms if you have two but on one no...but also if its 1200 at 4ohms then thats gunna be round 1400 at 3 ohms so youll be pushing the limits just watch your gain and volume knob

yea i might just find an amp 1000 at 4 ohms....and yes i have heard the w7 my friend a block away has one. But i just wanna know for the electrical. would i be fine cuz i'm not drawing the full power out of the amp? I don't know cuz the guy i would be gettin it from wants to give me the amp to and it does like 825 at 4 ohm.

just cuz you aren't drawing the full power of the amp doesn't mean you pull less current. 1000 watts at 3 ohms is just that. extra headroom on the amp isn't going to matter.

My friend might do a trade with me. What do you guys think about trading my 2 kicker 12" L5's for his w7. He would do a full trade. Amps and everything. His amp does about 950 at 3 ohms. Should i do it or not?
