ON audiocontrols website....

so lets say that, if you were hitting more than 136 db it wouldnt go any higher??

also, lets say if you hit like 135.8 would that still be 135.8 or would you really have a higher score but the mic cant pick it up??

would it max out at exactly 136 or like i said, a weird number like 135.8?? im seriously starting to think i got ripped off. I knew my setup should have been louder. ****ers

I'd assume exactly at 136, but who knows, find a setup you know is louder than yours and see what it reads..

i would but they are a rip off at 20 bucks to measure. But i am almost positive a kicker solo x with 1500 watts should be louder than 135.8

Anyone know if a 136 mic pegs out at EXACTLY 136 db??

Thats also what i was thinking, like maybe it scales the db weird, like 140 and up is like 136 and then it goes down. But im not sure, but starting to get pissed. i think the shop was trying to **** me. As soon as all i it was 136 on the mic he said, your box sucks, you need a new one. Ill build you one for 250, then you will be louder. Theres nothing wrong with my box.......

Try here-

Probably not the most accurate but its enough to have some fun in the parking lot, they say you can take it out and put it in your friends car to see how he compares.

Buy one of the dash sensor kits I mentioned above and do your own testing, there only 150 bucks.

I'm thinking of getting one.

They also have a cheaper 69dollar one that measures up to 140db.

Those are all in one units that plug into your lighter socket.

You could measure your car and take it out and measure your friends car to see who can do better. Its no Termlab but so long as its accurate within a few db its usefull.

You could at least get some reference on what you should be hitting on the mics.

or i could find out if the ****er at the shop ripped me off and go get my money back and get it metered somewhere else. I dont wanna drop 150 bucks on a meter that will peg out at 140, but i dont really want a meter anyway. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe if my friends all pitch in it would be useful. Do you know by chance anything about mics that stop at 136, and how they react with much louder sounds??

The 150 dollar one tops out at 150db and has a digital display.

The 69 dollar one tops out at 140db and does not have a digital display.

check it out- http://www.splmeter.com/

As for the meter you used, it would just peg out at 136. If it was exposed to a much higher spl it may damage the mic and cause sensitivity issues.
