older jl w6 12's,ported or sealed?

I have a pair of older 12''w6's and need to no if I need a ported or sealed box and how do I know what ohm they are.I have been hearing that they were made dual 6 ohm?thanks

They where all dual 6ohm. For a 12W6 you need 2.25^3 if you want to do ported. Both sound good.

i would do sealed personally.

depending on space, i'd do ported with a low tuning. 30hz or under.

its all in what you like i have did ported and sealed sub,s ported will be loud but i like sealed now just for sq but get what you like that,s all that matters

how do you tune a box to different hz's?do you think a punch power 1000.1 that is only 2 ohm stable burn up if I run these down to 1.5 ohm?

To change tune you change the size of you port. Google it. As far as the amp goes I wouldent.

port length determines the tuning. JL Audio has an archive of their older models, you can go there and get the reccomended enclosure info there.
