Older guys=sealed, Younger=ported

I am one of the oldest on here........

I have one car ported one car sealed,i prefer ported

cause I must be young at heart //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

its more of SPL vs SQ than ported vs sealed

but i think ppl are just born one way or the other LOL... like its a generation thing... hell ill bet all of us "yungn's" nowadays will still be db drag'n when we're old farts

what sub would that be?
threw the H2 back in for fun, but its pointless since the little guy rides with me much of the time, so I might pull it out again and put the Eclipse back in,

but I really would rather try to build that TL box for the RL-i and see what happens, humm 2500D powering an 8" @4ohm? hehe

it does pretty well @ 8 ohm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

4ohm would all the better.

I think its funny an 58 year old man wants to 15" BTL's and a IA 40.1. I think that setup would get ridoucously loud if the BTL lead up to the hype and there in a properly size and tuned ported box

LOLYou're the dude that was talkin about tubes w/ the Fi guy right?

You sounded old in that thread because of knowledge of old school electronic stuff
lol, I've gotten that before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif But when people start talking computers, that stuff flies over my head...at least with tubes I don't have to worry about it becoming obsolete every six months //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's because it has already become obsolete, my friend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

A lot of us guys that have been around a long time in the hobby go with sealed for the simple reason that back in the day that's all there was. No one had ported. Since SPL wasn't a big thing back then and SQ comps were the only thing around, sealed was the way is was. That and most all of the subs out at that time were designed with sealed boxes in mind. The sealed boxes were big enough, ported for them with an SQ tuning wouldn't fit in the car much less trying to go with a large SPL tuned box. Also figure that power was expensive and subs were efficient relatively speaking because of it.

30 years "old" and have both sealed and ported setups for my car that I switch depending on my mood.... most of the time I prefer the sealed setup though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
