okay to mount amp on box

Just wondering if its allright to mount my amp on the side of my sub box. I really dont have that many places to put it in my trunk, and the power cable is kinda short and only reaches to the side of the box. Will it be allright?

Now another question. If I wanted an extra ~4 feet of power cable, do I need to replace the entire cable? Or can I just buy 4 feet of 4 guage wire and solder it together, then wrap it in electrical tape?

I would probably buy one of those female-to-female set screw adapters (I know Darvex and SD stock them), tighten up the connections, and cover the entire thing in heatshrink. I don't like depending on electrical tape for insulating because of its penchant for coming apart in high heat over a long period of time...

Depends on the type of amp...a hifonics like i had yea! it broke after a few months, it was mounted on the box. i do not know why it broke, i didnt like it and just got a kx1200.1 instead. if you mount it to the box i suggest you leave space between the back of the amp for air to get to the back. So just get some small pieces of wood or whatever and put it between the box and amp.
