Anyone have any suggestions. My truck is a 2004 year but split year so really a 03 body style. Anyways do I have to.....

1. Keep some sort of cd/fm player also in the vehicle to control the ipad and music/volumes

2. Is there any kit anyone knows of that makes this a more simple install

3. Is it really worth it like for navigation, music videos or apps to control bass n such

Sorry guys just been thinking of modding the old beat em up truck"

Please and thank you for any help or suggestions

one more thing its a base model. Dont know if this is necessary but I always see people say Need more Info

SoundManCaraudio does tons of iPad installs;

They use this iStreamer from the ipad to make it work with a sound processor (eliminating the need for a stereo headunit, and giving better sound than doing a 3.5mm jack to a headunit)

https://shop.soundmanca.com/12-volt-istreamer/dp/4

And they also sell the iPad mini slider kit they make (if you don't want to make it yourself)

https://shop.soundmanca.com/ipad-mini-side-slider-kit/dp/14

then from the processor to a 4 channel amp/subwoofer amp etc.

1) How nice of a deck would you need and what kind of budget are you looking at?
2)look down at Jayzbent's post.. i use those kits. lovely and easy, if you have any questions just ask me i have lots of personal experience with them.
3) hell yeah its worth it.. removable touchscreen which detures theft. bas *** non lagging music control. awesome SQ, and people freak out when they get in for a demo and see you have an iPad in your dash.
Here is the kit @04murdalanche ; suggested to me Fifield Fab Custom Car Audio - Home. It's way cheaper and works great. He has done some also. Maybe he can chime in. I am also getting ready to do this. I am running a mini and Audison BitOne.
dissss, thanks bro!

Ok thanks for the info you guys. Ive been sick out with the flu the last two days and havent got around to reading my posts. im gonna go on those links and check things out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So your in a 04 heritage f150 it seems.

Mine is a 03 and here is what 04murdalanche has been working on. It still needs work but you get a half assed idea. No way this is near complete. This was a test fit.

03f150mrbs thanks for the pic. not to bad. yes im in a 04 split year so really same body as the 03. and yes its a hritage. I have a double din in there now, and if i stand the ipod up instead side to side like in the pic it looks like it can be mounted nicely. however if i do it like the pic you posted i want it somehow flush. might not happen though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

This will be flush. He cut the surround and the housing is inside the original surround. The only way to keep it in the "bubble" is to relocate your AC controls. I didn't feel like fooling with that so this is what we came up with. Like I said, still work to be done and it'll look way better. As you can see, he cut the bar that seperates the radio surround and ac controls. Just used the ipad housing as the new divider. Here is another spy pic if you would. There is a thread up for this build but weather is slowing this down. As you see, once its done the ipad will look like its floating.

I could get it pretty damn close, not sure if it could be 100% flush. But I think the best way for your dash would be vertical. And relocate the AC controls.

Weather is killing me but its gonna get moving here soon

wow, looking good. are u going to paint the whole "bubble" or surround one color? Man im loving it Thanks for the update
It's all gonna be matched the factory color. It's gonna look great

Yes yes. Color matched and as close to factory as I can.

That's why I didn't do vertical. Would fit better perhaps, but takes away from factory look. I know this isn't quite factory looking. But more so then Vertical. Just looks like a oversized dub din. But if your trying to fit the full size ipad. Vertical is what you'll want.
