Ok, so I bought into the 880PRS hype

Well it really wasn't the hype, it was the looks that got me and I found one at a great price. The question I have now is, Did I waste my money?

After reading and searching for what is likely hours at this point (even at work, on the clock //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif ) I have learned about that which is the active setup. And the next question:

Is this head unit going to waste if I choose not to run an active setup?

I plan on running only front comps and most likely a single sub. Any input, hating, flamming, abuse, adivse is appreciated.

I'm using mine in a passive setup with just the fronts... I love it. I noticed a lot of big (and welcome) changes from my JVC cheapy head unit.

I am however planning to go active in the near future. It's not going to waste... you have to think of why you bought it. Did you buy it just because of the hype?

I bought it because I wanted something with a cleaner look, better quality, simple text, usable in both passive and active applications and expandable (Sirius, CD changer, etc.)

i love mine, only have had it a couple days and it's great. not waste at all. believe me if you bought it them you're already in an upgrading state of mind.

Wow, quick replies and comforting too.

I bought it because I wanted a really clean headunit that didn't have freaking BLUE everything.

My main concern was the need for a 4 channel amp on a comp setup when I have a like new JL 300/2 I can use and that isn't worth selling. I'm just getting back into the car audio game and would likely get upset trying to tackle an active setup at this point.

You could always get another 300/2 to match and bi-amp them for an active setup...they're a little on the expensive side though.
