Ok i did my searching and still not sure on how to set the gains right wit a dmm. See i used to but i have been reading and the dmm seems to be more accurate than by ear and i dont wanna clip or anything

its all a matter of opinion i personally think it sounds better by ear

others do not

I always had set it by ear. I never had any problems. Might not have been a clean of signal or what not, but always sounded a bit better.

But the correct way is to use a DMM... I did it with a DMM a couple times, and while the signal was much cleaner and not sending a clipping signal, I still turned it up.

how did you get the gains using the DMM?

Did you use a -3db tone? if not, use one.

For ~2krms, the voltage should read just shy of 45 volts

From the chart i saw thats what it said but it told me to use a 50 htz tone and cut deck up 3/4 of way up and turn gain til its says about 45.5
