Here is the deal, i have a 2000 chevy extended cab silverado 5.3L V8 truck and i believe it has a 105amp alternator stock... I just bought a orion 2500d and am wanting to run it at .5ohm to power 4 type-r 12's... what electrical setup would you guys recommend? could i get away with just adding an extra battery in there rear, and what battery would you recommend? i am on somewhat of a budget so keep that in mind.

Start with the big 3 in 1/0. Fire up the system and see how bad it is. You might be able to get by with just a battery but you will probably want an alt at some point. The good news for you is that higher output alts for your truck are plentiful and relatively cheap.

Another option would be to wire the subs to 2 ohms until you can afford an alt. This will protect both your car's charging system and the amp.

which alternator do you think would be best for me? i don't have a clue when it comes to what size that i will need... i might go bigger some day and get another 2500d so i want to keep my options open.

Plus, i am most definately doing the Big 3 modification... although my truck it weird, the wire going from the alternator to the battery is going down to some terminal type thing and i think then to the starter... Ill try to get a pic... how would i go around this for the Big 3, should i just leave this in place and just run another wire in addition to that one to make it even better than 0gage?

Leave the stock wiring there and run 1/0 to the alt.

As far as size for an alt, if you plan to upgrade in the future, get the biggest one you can afford. Also look at output at idle. The GM V-8s run a really low RPM and the actual alt output is around the idle output because the engine isn't running that fast the vast majority of the time.

I have an 04 Tahoe with the same wiring. Leave the factory wire there, connected to the red box, then bypass it to the Batt + with the 1/0. Some say fusing that line is optional, I say DO IT! Better safe than sorry.

edit: Big 3 is relatively easy on that truck if it is anything like mine.

Here are the pics of what i am talking about:
