Refused to grow up
Today I installed 4 Rockford Fosgate 4257's. Now while it does sound alot better then the OEM's, I can tell I need to get more out of the system as a whole. When I get the volume up to my "rock out" setting, at that point I am just begining to loose the sound quality.

So..............................I want to find an amp that will give me 60watts RMS x 4, AND about 150-200 for the subwoofer that I now find myself needing. I am still a bit cloudy on amps, and what can be done with them, but I think based on my needs, that I need a 5 or 6 channel amp, is this correct?? Also, if it is, then can you folks suggest where I might find such an amp??? I want to spend as little as possible, yet get quality equipment. Are there any amps out there that fit this mold, or is there a way to get what I am looking for another way??

More help needed folks.........thanks ahead of time to those that respond.

By the way, I plan on getting a Rockford Fosgate HERFP-4410 Sub, or something like it. Any suggestions here would be cool also. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif

IMO, your best bet is to get a 4-channel amp. Run the front speakers off of the amp, bridge the rear two channels of the amp to a sub, and run the rear speakers off of the HU's internal amp.

don't post the same question to more than one forum, just gets annoying sometimes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that sounds like a terrible idea. you cant send the same signal to your front speakers that youre sending to your subs. i suggest either a 5 channel amp or a separate amp for subs.

LOL....hey genious, most 4 channel amps have dual inputs, meaning you can input a different signal into the front channels than you do the rear channels. That and most have independent crossovers, meaning you can highpass the front channels and then lowpass the rear channels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It doesn't matter what signal you send as long as you can appropriately crossover the channels. It's not like the subs need to receive a "special" signal.....you just need to lowpass the signal at the amp.

So yes, it will work fine, and tons of ppl do it that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

First off, its not the same question. It does set the stage usiing the same comments from another post. If the other post was read properly, it clearly says that I KNOW I need and amp. and ask's what the NEXT LOGICAL STEP WAS!!!! I.E.(for the mentaly challenged), a) just get an amp or b) wait till amp and sub are in hand. Also I know from many other forums, that alot of people tend to only visit certain topics over other ones, so if I submit the same question all over the place, I can hopefully gather input from several people and not just one or two, and why should you give a rats a$$ if I do or not, your reply in the other thread was worthless since I already knew I needed an amp. So get pissed off and dont read my threads, I dont care. NUFF SAID, your on ignore now.

Squeak

I know you have been following my threads all over today and since your the only one coming close to the info I am looking for, I thank you for your valuable opinion.

So once again I will ask, What/whos amp can I get that will give me 60 watts RMS +/- per channel, and 150 to 200 watts RMS to the sub? It should be good quality, but priced so a family man can afford it without the wife blowing a gasket?

OR

Would it be easier to ask, What amps should I avoid completely, assuming the rest are good units.

YA KNOW WHAT, SINCE THIS FORUM DOESNT SEEM TO BE GAGED TO THE NEW COMER WHO IS GOING TO HAVE A TON OF STUPID QUESTIONS, AND GET THE ANSWERS HE IS LOOKING FOR WITHOUT THE BONEHEAD COMMENTS FROM THE BU^^HEAD SECTION i WILL GO ELSEWHERE FOR MY ANSWERS.

Brands to stay away from:

Sony, Audiobahn, Crunch, Pyramid, Legacy, Boss.....there are a ton more, but I can't think of any right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Here are some to amps to look at. You don't have to buy from this site (although it is a very, very reputable site), but it's just easier for me to link them all from one site. Feel free to look around for the best deal:

If you still can't find any of the above in your price range, then something like Lanzar, Profile and US Acoustics are some more budget minded amps that are decent for their price range. Just remember to look for something that has both a high pass crossover and a low pass crossover that can be independently adjusted for both front and rear channels. I think all of the above do, but verify this before purchasing any amp.
