oil change ?'s

since you took it to jiffy lube, you have a 10% chance it was done correctly. the other 90% could mean they didn't put the right amount of oil back in, over or under torqued your drain plug and/or filter, put the wrong oil in, and then there's the possibility they simply didn't change the oil and/or filter. so if that extra 5 bucks you gave to jiffy lube who hired a high school drop out to change your oil makes you feel any better, then i guess it's okay you took it in.

It's not about saving the $5, it's about making sure the oil change is done right. Those Jiffy places do just slap on a new sticker sometimes. I let my old oil drain for at least 10 minutes. 5 minutes for an oil change seems way too fast for a quality job to be done, or the job at all.
I don't know where you guys' are getting your oil changed, but I worked 1 year at Penziol and we never just slapped stickers on and say you are good to go. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Yes, it can be done in 5 minutes, but usually it takes longer.

I let the dealership change my oil in my toyota because its cheaper for them to do it. and they are trained to do it. I let Pennzoil change my oil in my honda because I trust them. The guy that runs it has been there for 20 years and does a great job.

I can't remember the last time I paid for an oil change. I either did it at work, either at Penzoil or Midas and they never charged me for it, lol! Dad still does it for me for free.

He still works at Midas.........actually manages the store and when he has time, he does it for me...........or tells me, there is an open spot, have at it! But dad, I have my Guccii on mang! Guccii or free oil change? He always has a point, lol!

There is no way im crawling under a car in my driveway to save 5 bucks
wait until something expensive tears up...2 weeks and 3 g's later you'll start wishing you knew how to work on a car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Never been on the underside of a Focus, but if its all right there I'm sure it can be done...

On a side note, every cars oil I have ever changed, it takes atleast 5 minutes for all the old oil to drip out. This is even on my 3 1/2 quart Prizm.

Best of luck with Jiffy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i used to do my own oil, but now i cant be bothered with it.

i would rather drop my car off at the shop and walk to the bar next door, have a few drinks and then go pick it up in an hour

and yes i chose the place cause there is a bar next door;)

Are you suggesting that by changing his own oil he will somehow acquire the knowledge to do in depth repairs?

There is nothing complicated or particularly manly about changing oil. If you have done it once, you pretty well have learned all that you are going to learn.
