oil change ?'s

I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed, and it literally took like 5 mins, everytime I went before it took like 15 minutes, does it only take 5 minutes to change the oil and replace the oil filter? I dident actually watch them do anything as I sat in the waiting area because I assumed it would've taken longer... Im hoping they dident just stick on the new sticker and say ," See ya later!"

I checked my oil and its full, but besides that I dont know how to see if its a new oil filter and whatnot.

Look at the oil and see if it looks new, but yeah 5 mins is about all it really takes if you are not waiting for anyone else to finish up though they probably did not do the '50 point' inspection or whatever I am sure they say they do.

just pull the dip stick out and with a white paper towel just clean it off. if the color of the oil left behind on the paper towel is a dark brown then your oil wasn't changed. if it's a clean gold color then you should be fine.

Its more of a golden hue to it, not dark or murky at all... I suppose im in the good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif , next time I will be sure to watch what they do though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I use to work at jiffy lube, they have one guy under your car draining your oil and pulling the filter if it's on the bottom and one on the top checking fluids and filling it back up so if all they did was the oil change then yes it's possible.

When I worked there though you were supposed to clean the windows, vaccum the car and check the tire pressure. That was about 10 years ago though lol.

It's not about saving the $5, it's about making sure the oil change is done right. Those Jiffy places do just slap on a new sticker sometimes. I let my old oil drain for at least 10 minutes. 5 minutes for an oil change seems way too fast for a quality job to be done, or the job at all.

my car is about 4" off the ground, im not getting under there with some wallmart tire jack... but ya thanks for the info, next time i will ask them if they fully let the oil drain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
