Ohms: please help

Hey everybody,

I have a HiFonics Nemesis NX880 amp. Here are its ratings:

4 x 110 watts RMS @ 4 ohms

4 x 220 watts RMS @ 2 ohms

2 x 440 watts RMS @4 ohms

I am trying to figure out how much power it was delivering to my setup (because I ended up blowing some CDT EF-61 component speakers, and I'm looking to buy some new speakers based on my amp).

I used to bridge two channels to my Elemental Designs 16kv.2 subwoofer, and I used the other two channels for my EF-61's, which had a 4 ohm impedance.

i'm just guessing here but I would think they were getting 110 watts per side since you didnt bridge thsoe channels, they are acting as if normal seeing a 4 ohm load.

im not postive but im saying around 110 watts rms. dont quote me on that, but thats what i came up with according to your post and specs

I see. that's what I thought. so I don't understand how I blew my CDT's

what are your CDT's rated at?

I believe they were rated at 160 watts at 4 ohms

maybe you clipped them to death?

Maybe its 160 watts rms combined.(80 per side)

What was the high pass filter on them set to? There power rating is based on the HPF and is 130W with the HPF at 100hz. If you lower the HPF you have to lower the power, too.
