Brian go to RS and get a solder sucker those ****in braids do not work at least not in my experiences. goodluck but it prolly won't fix it sumthin else made it go out most likely.

Yeah I used a solder sucker... worked REALLY well. all of the holes are sucked and big enough to suit the new mosfets that I got a while ago.

and to let you guys know... the amp was putting out sound until about 30 seconds after it started burning when i turned it off. so it was still in working condition when i turned off the stereo. so maybe this will fix it!

i was just fackin' around with my board, checking resistances on random spots of the board when i saw this...

So I flipped the board over and saw...

Getting closer, we see...

And finally, a close-up...

Seems as if that piece of hardware got so hot that it cracked right down the side, and who knows what kind of electrical damage that did to the inside of that thing. Then that took out a few Mosfets and that leaves us where we are today!

now i gotta find out what that part is!!

okay well how feasable is this...

A short while ago a speaker lead became unattached to the speaker outputs of the amplifier, and happened to find itself lodged into a spot where it was touching DC ground, the chassis of my car. That means that the 30 or 50 volts of AC current was grounded to my car's electrical system.

I believe that this fried my voltage regulator, circled in the picture. The voltage regulator cracked in half and there are obvious burns on it.

The very next time it saw full volume, the voltage regulator failed, which provided my subwoofer with more power which would explain why the subwoofer sounded louder just before the amplifier blew. This would also explain why the mosfets ate themselves, and leaves me where I am today.

What do you think?

sure. SEEMS plausable. but who cares? its broken, just replace it if its burned\cracked\whatever

replace it and see if it works.

you also might need to fix the board on the back, the copper part might have melted apart.

where ^ is an upside down U (kinda looks like Ohm) and K93 is inside of a circle.

On the RE 35.1d amplifier board, the dagamaged slots are Q410, Q411, Q310, and Q312.

And yes, they still smell like anus.

I have a good soldering friend that could solder these things in if i could get ahold of the pieces, and i have some Processor thermal grease that could represent the heatsink. Does anyone support or condone these ideas?

Does anyone have an idea as to what could cause this?

With a little research i found the part... it's a International IOR Rectifier

Now what is the best idea when it comes to thermally guarding it?

that looks just like the rockford i justt blew up.. i dont know how i did this but i hooked power to the groud on amp and ground to power on amp, and i put the fuse in and blew the fuse. and had burning smell on amp. so i re hooked the wires right way, put fuse in, and i heard a popping noise and that smell again. so i took bottom off and 2 of them little square lookin things were burn up and one was cracked....

but anyways you think its cheap/easy to fix? or is my shit fried?

i think you blew something that you personally cannot fix. the whole reverse-power thing probably burned out the whole power supply part of the board, or at least many different vital parts of it.
