recieved my re 12 yesterday and hook it up to a jbl 150.1. And i dont like they sound at all. Maybe something is wrong but if your seating in the front seat it sounds like bass but if you open the trunk and listen then it sounds like hitting a hammer of of steel everytime it hits. And there is really no "shaking". I mean truthfully i think my 6x9's hit harder lol. I have heard cheap walmart subs throw off my sound pressure. Probably your box. What box is it in and who built it.

it is in a jl audio hi 112r-w6v2. I dont know if that is it. More then possible. The guy at a local audio shop told me that is what it needed lol. I belived him, probably ripped me off. I didnt really do to much research.

Well it needs 1 cubic foot sealed or 1.5 ported. What volume is your box. If it is ported what is it tuned to? What ohm load do you have the sub wired to. What are the settings on your HU and amp.

for starters i have a bonneville and it has a 7 band eq. And to be truthful i have no clue how to set it. I have it set to look like a v because that sound the best but i dunno. @ ohm load. I have the amp set at freq. 40 hz. Gain at about 3/4's. I think my best bet is to build my own box and bring that on back. Does anyone have a plan for a box for a re 12. Also i listen to rap should i go ported or sealed. Do you have AIM?

No aim but you can pm me on here. Raise your frequency to 80hz. You will probably want a ported box if you listen to hiphop/R&B/rap.

Do you know what ohms are?

somewhat. I used the RF ohm chart posted on here. Wired it to 2 ohms. Connect pos to pos and neg to neg on the voice coils then to the amp.

Your power should be good then. I'de guess it was the box or amp/HU settings. That speaker should sound pretty good. Considering I have 2 of the 8" re's and they get real loud.

i have a stock headunit. with that eq. Do you know how one should be set. Also would the box make it sound like it does that like banging noise or could something be wrong with the sub? would you happen to have a box plan for a 12 or could you show me the right way to finding one?

That sound is caused by bottoming out sometimes.

As for building a box there are plenty of people on here willing to help. Start a new thread and ask for some help. You will need you max dimmensions and what type of box you want. You can go here for a better understanding of how most of car audio works.
