**Official Poker Thread**

I play live exclusively. Typically 4-8 limit hold 'em and very rarely 1-2 NL.
My playing time varies from a couple times a week to 4 times a week.

That game is all about patience and table selection. You really do not make your money off of crafty plays, you make money off of discipline and other people's mistakes.
agreed...sometimes a crafty play is needed but not as much with the players that pplay at this level.

poker is my summer job. live 1-2NL. id be glad to take any of you guys money.
WSW is one of the best limit players ive seen. im sure he feels the same as i do.
I have been off online poker for a while, and hope I dont go back to it. I found I got too addicted and will only play if it is tourneys. Won a good amount but to me wasnt worth it

Thanks for the props my brother.

And I like Tappin's chance in anything NL. I shit you not when I say my boy wins nearly everytime he plays -- which is quite a bit. I think he must cheat.

i live 1/2 hr from A.C., poker down the is easy money, people with little intelligence and big pockets come down there and think they can play because they watched it on espn. i have never left with less than 800 dollars. the key is patience...

I take it you play NL holdem?

and its suprising bc this is the only game that I seem to be able to be patient at

I played for a couple months, read books, read forums and played with some guys locally for a while. I never really got into it, I don't have the income to learn really. My old room mate is a beast though, he's pretty good. I used to play online as well.

yall play live games or online against eachother?
He plays online, I do not. There is no reason for me to -- can be at a casino faster than I can log on my computer, lol.

We occassionally play at the same table live, but I don't think you can really say we play against each other.

But most of the time he is playing at a NL table and I am at limit table.

I don't know how to play
I am going to give you lessons, but don't feel compelled to play. If you enjoy it cool, if not that is fine too.

I play online and live. I am mainly a tournament player, but have got into 1-2 NL cash games lately. I play holdem and omaha but have played a few horse tourneys as well. I have done pretty well lately. I have won about 3500 online since january and played in event 27 of the WSOP this year.

Ok so I went to the "tourney" tonight.....suppose to have 30 ppl, ended up with 19, paid 1st to 4th

The person who set the tournament up did a poor job IMO... Started with 8000 in chips.... Blinds starting at 100/200 and doubled every 20 min. Needless to say once to the final table it was all in or fold, I hate poker like that:crap:

I survived and place 4th, and only saw 3 hands to the river:crap:

Hey, I didn't know you played at the same home game I used to go to.

I was invited back last week -- declined.

The blind structure was way too fast.

Typically someone, playing Ace crap, would double up within the first hand or two.

So, the good players were playing at a chip disadvantage due to the stupidity of others.

But, like at your game, you could fold your way into the money, lol.

lol I got invited and hated it. Worst player there won. So bad that he asked every hand what the blind was and who's turn it was, he just hit the cards of his life, even when playing horrible cards, which doesnt bother me Everyone has their own style, and his would bite him in the *** 99% of the time.

I dont believe I will be going back, unless things are changed. I dont feel like I played a single hand of actual poker, just survive and hope you are lucky.

Yep, its sllightly better than flipping quarters.
Not to mention the frustration of having to explain such things as why a player in the hand can't ask a player who has folded what he would do, lol.
lol or the fact that this guy would be the dealer and then lead out with a bet right after he dealt all the cards:laugh:....

Good thing I was sitting to his right
