Official CA.COM NCAA Football Thread

Iowa has beaten Nebraska, Wisconsin, Pitt and Northwestern. Everyone is saying their schedule is/was so easy this season, yet its ranked 36th toughest in the nation this year. Ranked tougher than the schedule of Clemson, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Florida State, etc.
I know this because Iowa is my team. Having said that, I cant really explain why Iowa has done so well this year. They have a good QB, HB, receiver, and a couple really good defensive backs. But realistically, those players aren't top tier quality (yet). What Iowa has done has been to play sound football, made few mistakes, and just seems to keep finding ways to win. Of course I believe Bama has more talent on their team, but I would really like to see Iowa get a shot at matching up against a team of that caliber in a championship setting.

Personally, I think Iowa's coach should be a serious contender for coach of the year. The fact that everyone says Iowa shouldn't be where they are (either in rank, record, or discussions about a championship bid), because of their lack of talent, speaks volumes for the coaching staff.
As a diehard buckeye fan I would love to see Iowa win it all if we aren't in there. As a realist, I don't know if they can beat msu. Iowa is in the far weaker half of the big ten and I believe had they played msu, meatchicken, or the buckeyes they would probably have at least one loss. I could be completely wrong. I'm hoping for a Clemson or Bama loss and two big ten teams in the playoffs. If we don't make it, I will be sure to cheer for the Hawkeyes. I find it so cool that three of the top 6 teams are big ten. Went from being a "cupcake" conference to a powerhouse.

For the most part, Im a big10 or nobody kind of guy too.

I'll be the first to say Iowa is lacking in talent (or developed talent at least). And they traditionally play poorly in bowls. But I think Iowa has shown this season that they are a team anyone in the country should take serious on any given day.

The best part about this for Iowa is not what happens this year, but in the next few years. They are getting some much needed national attention to help recruiting. Im a pretty big Kirk Ferentz fan, I think he could do some real work for Iowa with a better talent pool.

Yeah but why would kids from GA, TX, or CA want to come to Iowa?

Legit game going on now... Iowa holding on but Michigan St appears to be the better team.
