***Offical 08/09 NBA thread!***

Detroit going UCLA with their approach apparently...considering their love affair with Boozer prior to the off season, and before free agency, Rip to Utah for Boozer might not be a bad idea, I believe Chad Ford mentioned it yesterday...the Charlotte deal I've not heard yet...doesnt make sense for Charlotte AT ALL, Okafor is their interior, that leave Diop, Nazr and Ajinca which kills them, it doesnt even remotely work financially, May is an UFA so they would have to S&T which makes even less sense and it leaves Charlotte at 9 players, 4 below league minimum, thats peculiar...$11m a year for a tweener guard, these teams needs to chill...

Utah needs cap relief and Hamilton for Boozer does not do that. I think Dumars realized that neither Lebron, Wade, or Bosh was going to consider going to Detroit so he decided to settle for a couple good players. Hamilton's true colors showed last year and I hope there is a deal in the works to get him out of town.

considering Utah will be at a wopping $38m in salaries next year as it is, I'm sure that the notion of having Rip over re-signing others would be alright...getting an effective 2 guard to run with D-Will while retaining Millsap and moving the Booz, makes sense to me...

The only team who should want Hamilton is Denver since Hamilton pouted ever since Billups left. Utah has to move Boozer's salary in order to extend Millsap, and Hamilton still has 3 year guaranteed.

they can extend Millsap without moving Boozer...but this is why I brought up moving Boozer, it makes things much easier, and they can add to their future, they have like 7 free agents next year so, a guaranteed player of Rips caliber wouldn't be a bad addition...

Hamilton is in his 30's, has declining skills, and cannot create his own offense. It was obvious last year that he needed Billups in order to be effective. Maybe he can work a chemistry with Williams, but he really needs a good PG to be effective. Detroit has been shopping Hamilton for some time now and signing Gordon does not bode well for what Dumars thinks of Hamilton. I would gladly trade him for Boozer but I doubt it happens.

Happy as hell we got Ben Gordon. I really wish Joey D would trade Prince and Sheed for Amare. Stucky, Villanueva, Hamilton, Gordon, and Amare. It'd be a sick lineup, with little Bynum coming off the bench, it'd be back to the good ol days of Detroit. But hopefully we MAYBE pick up Avery Johnson as a coach if he still wants to coach, or Pick up Bill Lambier since he's done with the shock. But we will see.

That is nothing close to the good ole days of Detroit. Who the hell is going to play defense? I like the Charlotte deal much better. Okafor can at least rebound and play defense, and Gerald Wallace is an underrated player.

You do know that Gordon is a 6-3 SG? Amare and Villanueva do not equal Ben and Rasheed Wallace defensively. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Yes I know this, but I would personally favor Amare over Ben Wallace, and granted Sheed is a great post-up player, he's slacked this last year. I'll give it to him, no one can post up D Howard better than him, which as already been stated, but, I guess it's out with the old, in with the new. Besides, just wait for Stuckey to be the team leader next season, and little Will Bynum will defiantly step. What player goes to the D leauge for summer, just to get a better shot?

if cavs sign artest ariza or both just give us the trophy and skip next season.......

cant blame a clevelander without a title for dreaming //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I speak for Chicago. The Pissed_Ons can have BG and his poor shot selection. Oh and his piss poor defense and inability to guard a 2. He will not score 20 a game in Detroit, but he'll sure try.

Dumars needs to be fired after that. How do you michigan guys feel about him picking Darko a few years back? I used to blame Brown, but Darko really sucks.

Yea, Darko was picked before either Lebron or Dwade, I can't remember. You can't blame Larry Brown, he was an amazing coach, and Joey D is doing his thing too. Guess he just wants to try somthing different. Thats nuts though, I heard TODAY on espn that Ariza wasn't resinging with L.A. and I didn't hear much about artest. Crazy shit.
