***Offical 08/09 NBA thread!***

Yeah, you need to read more into the NJ thing. I just read that NJ move may not happen and neither will bron. He will more than likely end up a Knick if he was to get traded, but really is too far to worry about right now anyway.
Damm, I haven't been keeping up with the move, but I knew that Brooklyn was gonna be his next move. First the 3 year deal, and then with the way they were freeing up money, I figured Spike Lee was gonna be doing LeBron commercials.

i guess I just don't see the bad in a 25 PPG and 6 APG player. Not too mention he is the type of player who can draw double teams and free up open jumpers for a good jump shooting team. How will a team be able to guard Iverson and follow Hamilton around screens? With Iverson, Detroit can now push the ball up the floor and score in transition.

Neither did Denver, but it's something not right with his game and how it meshes with others. Maybe we'll look back on this thread and laugh. I for one would hope that it could work. I feel he paid his dues. He has the fame, the fortune, the personal accolades. But sadly you are defined by the rings. Chamberlain is who I feel is the best that ever did it, but his 2 rings to Jordan's 6 or Russell's 11 is what people see first. Hell Horry has what 7? Is he better than Mike?

I honestly don't think AI will gel well in Detriot. Other knuckleheads already on the team and Billups was team captian and his team is going to miss him, his ability and team leadership skills.

Like I said, AI will score, but don't see him being a missing piece to get back to the finals. I think they were fine the way they were to be honest.

LOL you obviously don't follow the Pistons. Billups leadership has been questioned ever since Ben Wallace left. Billups heart has been questioned for some time. Say what you want about Iverson, but no one questions his effort on the court like they did Billups. Also who are these knuckleheads? Outside of Rasheed I can't think of one. How were the Pistons fine? The past 3 years they lost to teams with star scorers (Wade, Lebron, Pierce) Billups dissapeared in the 4th quarter last year in game 6, and was non existent against Cleveland or Miami. Billups also struggled defensively against quick guards getting outplayed by Rondo, Williams and a grown man named booby. Now Billups is asked to guard guys like Parker, Paul, and Devon Williams? Billups isn't a play maker or a creator. Billups benefited from the fact that Detroit had a whole team of good jump shooters he could dish to. Billups was the right guy for Detroit in what they wanted to do. Ball control offense and no turnovers. Denver won't be able to run up and down the court and score in transition. Billups was also going to block the growth of Stuckey. With Iverson, Detroit can now play Stuckey and Iverson in the back court, with Hamilton at SF and become a faster team that can get easy baskets. Hamilton is the perfect player to play along side Iverson. Hamilton does his best work without the ball. With his constant movement and Iverson's ability to penetrate and draw defenders, Hamilton will get lots of open looks.

Iverson is now 33 and knows this is his last shot at a ring. I believe he'll be more focused then he was under Larry Brown. He showed in Denver he is willing to defer and pass the ball. What also gets overlooked is the fact he draws nearly 10 free throws per game. That is double the amount Billups draws, and Billups shoots all the techs and has the ball in late game fouling situations. Those fouls mean foul trouble for opponents bigs.

Dude, I can really care less about the Pistons. It is just funny how when we went back and forth about the championship series between the two a couple years ago you praised the shit out of Billups and now you basically are saying he is shit! I honestly think uless they are on your team, they **** arse, but you would love to have some superstars on there, but really are not anything special till they are on your team.

You are a silly little kid.

Waits for when Iverson leaves and how you say he really wasn't all that good. You know it! Said the same shit about Wallace, which kinda right, not the same player he used to be, but I betcha you would praise the shit out of him if he was back in Detriot making same lame *** excuse about how he just wasn't on the right team.

Where did I say Billups was shit? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Iverson is a better player and what the Pistons need.

I'm hoping Iverson leaves after the season. That is the biggest reason for the trade.

Toronto may have improved their starting 5, and I love me some Bosh, but they are devoid of serious depth...they dont match up well with a Pistons team that has a ton of wing presence and their strong interior defense.

any who...

how about the Celtics saying that they would extend an offer to McDyess if/when he's bought out? yea, something tells me he might like that...perfect replacement for that PJ Brown role, McDyess will actually fill that role much better...KG/McDyess on the pick and pop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Jesus mang, you are hopeless!
Why did you mention Toronto?
Because someone mentioned Detroit being 6th in the east behind Toronto. Did you run the McCain campaign, because all you do is attack and never talk about anything of substance.

Didn't get to see Iverson' debut. According to the statistics he had a good game. 6-12 shooting, with Hamilton and Prince taking more shots, 6 assists and most importantly, 11-13 from the line. The 13 FT attempts shows he's getting into the paint and creating offense.

I watched part of Billups debut in Denver. He looks much better then he did in Detroit. He played with intensity on defense, he was pushing the ball, and I seen more dribble drives from Billups in 5 minutes last night, then I saw all of last season. I think Billups now has a chip on his shoulder. I only wish he played like this the past three seasons in Detroit.

McDyess got bought out. Boston is going to be an attractive destination. Detroit could really use his shooting ability at the C/PF position. Boston had a chance to sign him in the offseason so I'm not sure if he will go to Boston. If he does it will be a loss but I'm sure Dumars had a backup plan if McDyess doesn't come back.

I heard the Cav's are interested in him too, but probably go back to D or the Celts.

Bron has been on fire anyway and think we will be fine even if we didn't get him, just would be nice for some interior help is all. Anderson V has been doing better last couple of games though.

Also can't believe the Hawks are 6-0 and keeping pace with Boston right now.
