***Offical 08/09 NBA thread!***

Yeah, but you were getting amped about Bron. Don't lie, because you know you were because of the media as always, jumping the gun!
Stuckey has played well, but I wasn't talking about Stuckey. Was talking about AI.

You know what is funny, you talk all the time about my weight, when I weigh around the same as you, with less body fat.

Talk about calling the kettle black. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I didn't even mention your weight? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif the Billups trade was made possible because Stuckey is the future PG. Again, the logic thing kicks in here.

+1. Lakers finally showed up and played tough for an entire game.
The Suns vs. Spurs game was sick too; it makes me happy when Suns fans go home with a great present like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. Great Christmas day games so far except for that pathetic Orlando vs. Hornets game. The Hornets are getting exposed for what they are.
plus Orlando is really good...

Statement win for the Lakers. Very impressed. They played hard for a full 48 minutes and showed they can be just as tough as the Celtics. Kobe has shown that he is unselfish and can make his teammates better while still being an amazing finisher. Still the greatest player in the world in my opinion.

I still cant believe the Suns lost that game though. How can you leave the best 3 point shooter in the NBA that wide open?

I still think Western > Eastern to be honest. The Eastern Conference has 3 elite teams while every other team is mediocre while the Western Conference is in a dogfight from 2-9 seed. The 2nd seed is only 2.5 games ahead of the 9th seed.

Xmas play of the day.

haven't watched alot of NBA games this year but must say both of the PM games yesterday were excellent. Props to the NBA for scheduling the 4 most entertaining teams and 2 best matchups for Christmas day. The NFL should learn something and stop sticking with the old scholl fawking matchups (Cowboys, Eagles, Vikings, Lions, Packers, Jets, Colts) Blah...

I wouldn't consider Detroit mediocre nor elite. They did beat the West's top 2 teams on their court in pretty convincing fashion. Atlanta is also a snake in the grass. Michael Curry is trying to turn the Pistons into the Suns. They are putting Stuckey at PG, Iverson at SG, Hamilton at SF, Prince at PF, and Rasheed at C. I don't see them contending with that lineup. Prince or Hamilton needs to go to the bench.

Celtics are still the best team in the NBA IMO. They got beat at LA and granted I wanted the streak to end, in a 7 game series, I still can't see LA taking, which could end up being the finals again.

I am hoping that Cleveland is in there and would like to get some payback against SA. So that is I hope to see in the finals.

Also the West has alwasy been more competitive, but Detriot has played go against the west, as well as Cleveland and the Celts. So our top teams are doing well, even Orlando.

Yeah, the rest of our teams **** in the East, who cares. The elite teams are Boston, Cleveland, Orlando and maybe Detriot if they get going. That is all the matters. I would put any of those teams up against a West team and feel confident we could beat the best of the West. I wouldn't have said that the last few years though as the West was better.

We have come up this year a lot.

You made an analogy, which I can read right through. Come on now.

I made no analogies to anyone's weight. Do you even know what an analogy is?

Agreed, in my honest opinion , I still don't think the Lakers can beat the Celtics in a 7 game series, YET. We have shown spurts that we are a great team, but we have not made it a constant habit yet. There are streaks where we are unstoppable and blowing out teams in the first half, and then streaks where we are just mediocre. We need to continue working on our defense. What impressed me the most during yesterday's game was 9 blocks by the Lakers and only 3 by the Celtics. It was an important win for us yesterday, but it is still just one game and the Celts are still the best team in the NBA. It was a measuring stick to see if we can compete with the East Elites and we definately can.

I still believe Detriot is a mediocre team due to the fact that they are just a .500 team after aquiring AI. Seems to me the Nuggets are getting a much better deal out of the trade. Losing 3 in a row to the Knicks, Sixers, and the Wiz doesn't help either. They need to change up their lineup or work on another trade if they wanna compete with the Celtics, Cavs, or Magics.

Detroit has only played 26 games. Incorporating a player like Iverson into your lineup doesn't happen overnight. On the surface it looks like Denver won, but there is so much more to this trade then you people just don't seem fit to comprehend for whatever reasons.

-Stuckey is the future. Billups blocked his growth. The Pistons are getting old and need to develop young talent. Stuckey can give them everything Billups did and then some

-Salary cap. Pistons will be players in the 2010 draft. This freed up a huge amount of cap space.

-The Pistons still haven't figured out how to work Iverson into the offense. It will take time, but this team could be built for the playoffs. Remember Detroit only had 54 wins each time they made the finals. In 2006 they won 64 and lost in the ECF. Win/loss record isn't everything.

-furthermore, Detroit has beaten Cleveland, Los Angeles, and San Antonio in convincing fashion. Outside of Boston, they have proven they can hang with the best.

-Billups would not make a difference. This team would still be underdogs to Boston, Cleveland and even Orlando. They proved the last 2 years that the status quo was going to beat Cleveland or Boston.

Given what I know now, I'd still pull off the trade in a heartbeat.
