ok so say your amp/sub calls for 8gauge. i can buy a 2gauge kit (overkill for what i need) on ebay of an offbrand for cheaper than a 8ga name brand kit. i wouldnt expect offbrand 8ga to be equal to 8ga name brand. but what about when it comes to 8ga name brand vs 2ga offbrand??

always made me wonder, just pure curiousity. obviously there are a lot of variables here, but just curious what you guys think.

example:

70$ streetwires 8ga kit

40$ offbrand 2ga kit

anyone ever ran a solid test of current of name brand vs offbrand of equal OR different sizes?

if you were getting 8 gauge for your amp, and you see off brand 2 gauge for the same price as the 8 gauge, go for the 2 gauge.
ya sorry, lil intoxicated, i edited the post. im wondering 70$ name brand 8ga, vs 40$ 2ga offbrand. so i guess in that case its a sure go on the 2ga? how can you be sure the 2ga quality is not equivalent to say 16ga speaker wire lol?

The 2 gauge will be closer more than likely to 6 gauge, so your best bet is the 2 gauge. Try install bay wiring, very cheap for 50ft of 2 guage.

If youre talking about your power/ground wire, skip both and go with 1/0ga

im just talking in general

say 4ga name brand vs 1/0ga offbrand??

or 8ga name brand vs 2ga offbrand?? ect

just wondering if the larger offbrand was cheaper if you'd still go with the name brand

Just go to Knukonceptz.com , pay out for however much wire you need, and be done for it. That way is safest.

No, you're a dumbass. So according to you fancy knu wire is better than cheap wire even if they are the same thickness?
maybe he needs it more flexible? i know 90% of that is like trying to bend a metal rod. plus if i order a knukonceptz kit i know ill be getting quality rca's with it.

Better to get better wire with just copper. Then to get thicker CCA or CCS.

One of the brand companies put out a vid of some of the cheep wire, It was dropping .5 to a volt over the run and heated up real bad.

i got a random ebay kit that said 4 guage, it claimed to be thicker than normal 4 gauge, so i figured it should be close enough. i ran 1200 watts from an amp using that wire and had no problems. still using it, still no problems. (14.4 volts to the amp)

i would not recommend it just to be safe, and i dont want to recommend it and it fail or ****, tho i have had fine results. knu has a 4 gauge amp kit for $40, which is not that bad. u can do it without the inline fuse and maybe another thing or two and get just what u need and get it below $40
