I purchased a Peripheral ipod adapter and harness from Discount Car Stereo a little while back for my 2006 buick lacrosse. (PXAMG and PGHGM5). I got it installed by Circuit City on Friday and it seemed to work perfectly. Until I went to my car on Monday. My oem radio seemed to be in a "safe mode" where the dimmer works and the radio shows the time, but the fm, am, cd, and anything that worked through the speakers, did not work. I took it back to Circuit City to have everything checked out, but it all looks fine.
As part of the take apart/re-install, they reset the radio by disconnecting and re-connecting the power. The technician said it may be one or more of my speakers causing the head unit to enter a safe mode because the speaker blew, etc. and that I needed new speakers. I don't think that's the case. Everything works fine for a while after the radio is reset (I had to do it again today by taking out and reinserting the radio/amp fuse). I can play the music over a full range of volume, trebble, bass, etc. But after a few hours, the head unit enters that "safe mode" again.
Any advice?
