odd question

I am looking to pull the trigger on a new sub relatively soon. I am concerned with SQ more than output. That being said, I am torn between doing a 10" assasin or a 15" maw. It makes sense that a 15" would be able to produce the lows a little more accurately just because of air displacement (larger cone.) Each would be sealed with appropriate power in a Santa Fe SUV.

I am really stuck. What should I lean towards?

My question is why go with those subs? If you indeed are for SQ why not go with a specific Sq driver? JLw3, w6, Polk SR, DIYMA, IDQ, IDMax,Fi Q, shit the list goes on forever........ I do not know either of the drivers your considering but as the names would suggest they aren't geared towards SQ. Let me put it this way, I was once told if you get the rest of your system dialed in you can win comps with a bazooka tube. People put too much emphasis on 20-60hz, what a tiny portion of the music spectrum. For me the subs are the last thing to be dialed in, something to think about.

I am somewhat flexible on how much I want to spend. I would like to stick within $250 for amp and sub. That being said, I have been spending too much money lately and I hate spending it as much as I have been.

For ats, I would agree that dialing in the rest of the system is more important than substage. Unfortunately I do not have the time or equipment to test and perfect. From what I've been reading, the assassin is a dam good budget SQ driver.

Why are you comparing a 10 and a 15? Apples and oranges...
Hence the "odd question." I know there are different benefits to each but I dont know which way to go. I think I may just end up with the new Assassin 10" because of space. I have read that its built well and could handle a little bit more than the RMS ~~ 300-350?

Why not split the size and get a small box 12" in say a 1ft3 box.....I can get you a Polk SR for real cheap....in terms of it being a new driver. Very comparable to a W6 in terms of sound quality and better power handling. message me if interested.
