why is it that when your in your younger years is dating someone more than a year younger than you is kind of "frowned upon?" like my parents are almost 5 years apart, and they got married when my mom was 19, but thats perfectly normal. im asking because im in this odd position with this girl whos 16 and im 19, we are like 3 years and a month apart......

is it just because of the whole age of consent thing?

i see it more as her still being a kid. there is usually(not always) a big difference in maturity between a 16 year old and a 19 year old.

im gonna say maturity level also, once she turns 21 forget it though, she will want to go out with her friends to the clubs cause all the guys giver her attention. Been through that. But you being 19 and her 16, I thought you had to be so many years apart though before all that consent to age/mino stuff kicks in. I just see you getting you heart broken in the future

I think maybe just maybe 16 an 19 could work, however there is a gap between the maturity levels.

My buddy is like 20 an flirts all the time w/ this 16 year old we know.

Personally makes me feel sick and pervy to just watch him do it, but to each his own.
