Odd hiss in speakers? Suggestions?

So, I noticed that when you go past like, 18/60 on the headunit, there is an audible hiss, like a hum, that can be heard behind the music. If you pause the song you can really hear it. Also, if you pause the song and then turn up the volume really high it gets very very loud.

I was thinking ground loop of course, but I've switched grounds twice now and still no luck. Maybe I shouldn't have my grounds shared with my sub and comp amps? I even tried tossing in a loop isolator and it didn't do anything.

Any suggestions?

Should I run my grounds directly to the battery terminal maybe?

are you using a pioneer unit?

If so, take some 20 gauge wire and wrap it around all the rca inputs on the back of the HU. Then ground it to the HU using the screw on the back of the unit and your problem should be fixed.

nono, im saying there are no inputs on the back like in that thread with the picture. It's part of a wire harness type thing. Hm. I could prolly wind that copper around the rca's though where they plug in further down the wire.

yeah, i don't have experience with those, so i don't know

Well to put it simply it is a ratio that compares the level of your desired signal (music) to the level of background noise(hiss you may be hearing). The higher the ratio, the less noticeble the background noise is..(in most cases depending on how that device was measured). Its kind of complicated but yea , does it almost sound like static?

Its almost static, its less random that static though. More of a solid sounding sound. I don't know, im running a jl 300/2 and CDTcomps so I would expect them to perform well.
