OBD II scannerz

ScanGauge looks pointless to me really.

All that stuff is allready in my car.

I dont need an exact amount of fuel in my tank, I can look and say.....oh I need gas

If it were say $50 it would be worth it

i didnt say it did, you said good programmers cost $6500
No I didn't. I said that a good programmer/scan tool costs $6500. By the year of his vehicle. I've already determined that he needs an OBD1 Scanner. There are only a few of those made that can do both and they are very expensive.

For the price of those programmers posted he could go with a full standalone unit such as a Haltech or a Megasquirt. There would be no benefit since he simply needs a scanner to read codes.

I use a Modis on a daily basis, you only need the codes, nothing else. If there are no codes and the revs aren't steady it's a temp sensor, if the abs kicks in and no codes it's the speed sensor opposite the wheel that brakes with abs, thats all you need to know.

When temp sensors (coolant temp sensor) go bad they will sporadically read a higher resistance which to the ecu means the engine is cooler and it will run richer because it is tricked into thinking it needs too, The MAS and IAT sensors will read a lower air density than what should be normal for a colder engine. The ECU thinks that you keep your car in the freezer and just decided to take it for a spin on a hot day so it will run rich and force the rpm up until it corrects it's self from the o2 sensors readings.

When a TPS goes it will cut out altogether for a second or too, but not force the rpm upwards (most of the time).
