Oa15 = sa15 ??????

The z and oa are completely different. The z motor is about twice the size and hand assembled in the us. The difference between the oa and sa from my experience is that the oa tends to like a lower tuning and likes to dig lower vs the sa. The sa likes a higher tuning and because of this it seems to get a little louder but not as low as the oa. Both are nice subs. I prefer the oa as I like the lower tuning. That's the reason why I usually recommend the incriminator audio li over the sa but by no means am I saying the sa is inferior. Depends on what you want.

Is the obsidian audio 15 the same as the Sundown SA 15?
I know what a "cookie cutter" sub is and that's the reason why I ask. They do look awfuly similar.

The major difference is' date=' the SA15 is like $400+.......the OA15 is $160 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif[/quote']

in what world is a sa15 $400+? there $235 new

I had the opposite experience.

If you're after a subwoofer purchased on buzz words rather than actual performance those are a solid option.

graphing out the OA15's on WinISD' date=' man they do need some HUGE boxes to get a decent response curve in a ported box.[/quote']If you will be listening to your subwoofer system in an anechoic chamber then WinISD is your best friend. However, if the latter is not how/where you will be listening to your system you should not base erroneous beliefs on such graphs. Knowing where your system will be placed, and listened to, is a huge part of the complete audible experience. When the Obsidian Audio subwoofers are placed in their recommended enclosures the F3's are at/below 20 Hz across the board when installed in a car audio environment. Bandwidth is what you are after in the end, as it (bandwidth) is what transient response [see the Fourier Transform] is dictated by.

And no. The OA drivers are not an SA. The only things the two drivers have in common are the mounting gasket and the spider. Literally that is it.

According to Jacob, a few posts up its the mounting gasket and basket that are shared, and nothing else. Either way, they are different subs.
