not loud enough?

So you're running one 4 ohm mid and tweeter connected to a crossover on each channel right? I assume your amp is 2 channel? Go with at least 100 WPC for the mids and tweeters. Also the midrange and tweeter are not seeing equal power. It is largely determined by the crossover and what frequencies are present in the song you're listening to. Song with strong mids = more power to the midrange and less to the tweeter. Songs with strong highs = more power to the tweeter and less to the midrange.

Did you try the red on both sides, then the white on both sides. It may be a bad cable.
