Not impressed

Should I buy some 6x9 coax and cross the tweeter in the pillar at 5k? I'm stumped. When I was into car audio, eclipse was the way to go.

I bought the eclipse 6x9 components for the front and have jl audio c2s in the rear. I can hear the rear so much better and cleaner. Anyone have some advice on a good 6x9 component set that doesn't cost 400 bucks?

6x9s ****, cant make a circular sound wave with an oval. They all sound bad at high volumes for this exact reason. I would get a 6x9 to 6.5 plate, check ebay theres some nice MDF ones made on CNC machines. Then get a good set of 6.5 comps, will sound much better.

Eclipse is still awesome, im sure the 6.5 set sounds way better.

After some adjustments on the amp and summing unit, it sounds much better. The tweeters are a little too bright. Probably gonna change them out to a silk or soft dome tweeter.

vifa/tymphany XT 25s, sb acoustics, are all good flat non harsh sounding silk dome ring radiator tweets

Never heard of any of them. Where can I get them?

They are exclusive to audiophiles lol.. JK, they are on partsexpress and madisound. Basically where you can put together your own component set. They have frequency testing data and a lot more rather than just RMS numbers. The overall quality is a lot higher and sound is a lot richer, detailed and smoother than mainstream off the shelf products.

I don't know if I could get those in my a pillars without some custom work. Was kinda looking for something that's a little less trouble.

Wat? Any source on this little tidbit of wisdom?

Eclipse isn't what it used to be I suspect. AFAIK Tang Band makes a pretty stout 6X9 woofer and if you could active crossover into a large format tweeter you might do OK. Otherwise mids and highs comes down to personal preference and largely aiming and location.

Id like to throw in an opinion here myself.

I now own a chrysler 300 with an 8 speaker system w/ stock amp.

3 dash 3.5's, front doors 6x9's, rear deck 3 6x9's.

The dash are crossed high, the doors are pure bass, rear is full range.

The door bass is amazing for stock kicker 6x9's. Rears mid lack and distort.

So to me 6x9 are only good for bass because of available cone area.

I am switching to 6.5's to fix the mid distortion somewhat.

I want to keep the factory look. Is there a crossover that I can turn the tweeters down a couple db? The ones that came with it don't have any adjustments.
