Not happy with the assassin 12. help

I replaced my Arc 12 with an assassin 12 and the assassin kills the arc in volume but its so damm boomy it kills me. I was listening to my friends JL12w6 older version and it sounded tight and got way loud, 2 vr my 1. but his are in a very small box in the cab of a extra cab pickup. anyway I want the tightest sound with very good output. anyone recomment something. dont say the w6 because I cant afford the new ones and the used ones scare me, lol it will be ran off the PG 400.1

sounds like you may need a smaller box, get a couple pieces of 2x4 and screw them into the inside of your box to take up some airspace.

x 2 on the 'insert wood' into your box to make internal volume smaller=tighter bass.make sure you screw or glue it in place once youknow the right amount.

Try a smaller box before jumping to conclusions....

I was jumping to conclusions because ascendent recommends a 1.2cf box for sealed. i will try cutting it down this weekend. thanks

i have a feeling those subs are just low end monsters, from what i hear, maybe just thats how the sub is supposed to be. i guess you'll find out when you re vamp your box.
