Before I start sub sounds great love the SQ but as far as output I'm very disspointed. I'm running the amp on a JBL 14001 which gives the sub about 1200 watts or so. I mean I know they are SQL subs but my friends two type rls off 1000 watts blow my JBL out the water and it doesn't even come close to my DD 2500 12" I had.. I feel like something could be wrong maybe I need to upgrade the 8 gu power wire coming from my distro block to 4 guage. Or I was thinking of gettin maxx link and grabbing another 14001 for the sub. Bcuz its impossible to find an amp tht puts out 2k plus @ 4 ohms. Why does JBL have to have the dumb@ss 6ohm coils it makes finding good amps so difficult.

Actually it wasn't I finnaly talked to wootah and it turns out I wasn't connecting the speaker terminals correctly bcuz JBL does things so weird thy put both positives and both negs on same side with no + or - just an a and a b.

Was the dd 12 in the same vehicle as the one your in now? It may just be cabin gain that is different. Other than that unless your d6 is wiring at 12 ohms I'm not sure. The subs are very clean and you may just not be used to undistorted bass. Distortion in bass is always louder than the tone, since the higher harmonics are much easier to hear. You may also be used to a much higher tuning, which will usually be louder as well.

Good point

Yea same car and yea like I said the bass is really clean and it sounds pretty decent with the volume on like 28 (9887) on songs with lower notes due to the box and my last box was tuned to like 35 hz. This one is @ 30hz and is there a way to decrese the volume of the speakers and inc bass bcuzi thought u could just change the level in the crossover but I want the bass louder than the level ) max.

turning you gains down on your speakers or up on the sub can do that. Gains honestly should be used as level matching tools for this purpose more than anything else. Setting everythign with DMM's is a bad idea in that regard since effeciency between speakers is very different. Just be aware of your systems limits and it's no issue. That's how I gain match with my front stage 99% of the time. Horns go all the way down mids go up until they match it at a mid to upper number on my hu where I'd normally listen.

yup, you could also reset gains with your volume on say 12/15 on the HU subwoofer conrol. Then you'll have a bit of wiggle room and still have a good idea where clipping will occur.
