not enough power to a sub?

I was wondering if there would be a big difference in sound if you put for example

300watts to a 300 watt sub would it sound better than 300watts to a 500 watts sub

or would it be the same? do you have to keep the RMS of the sub and the AMP as close as possible?

the reason why i ask is that i can get a good deal on some 500rms Cadence speakers for only 20 bucks more than the 300 watt Pioneers

The amp SHOULD match the subs but it doesn't need to. Either way u gom u really can't go too wrong.

well it depends greatly on the sub. but yes if there was a 500 watt sub and you were sending it 500 watts it would be louder than if you sent it 300 watts.
