Well I've had my system in my Durango up and going for about a week. I know this is screwed up, but it's not as loud as my corsica was. In my corsica, I could feel the pressure on my ears, and feel it in my chest on certain notes. In my Durango, it's not loud enough to do that. I have tons of roof flex and my hatch rattles like a mother ****er (sound deadining will be one of my next projects), but it's just not as loud as my corsica was (by ear).
When I have my doors closed and hatch closed, I can get in the back seat and kind of lay on my box, head toward the rear. It gets really ****ing loud about right there. but any further forward and the sound seems to fall off a lot. if I sit in the front, it's not near as loud. in my corsica (and this is all I have to refrence too), the closer I got to the subs, the less sound. In my Durango (to a point) the closer I get to the subs, the louder it gets.
With my amprack, my subs are 20" from the rear "load level" line. I am kinda pissed because I don't want to move my sub box any closer to the back because that would defeat the entire purpose of my amprack, (of which was my first attempt at doing an awesome install, and spend tons of time drawing it up on google sketchup, and building and carpeting, etc) because I would not be able to open it anymore (the box would be on the lid). I don't want to just throw that away, i worked hard on it.
I have another option: firing up. Then the subs would be about 5" or less from the roof. I really dont want to do this, as it would block my main rear view mirrior, and that is the main mirrior that I use.
So, without building a different box, and without messing up my amprack design, what would you suggest? Might it be a sweet thing to make a slider platform for my subs? (They would slide clear forward [where I currently have them sitting] if I wanted to open or show my amprack. Then i could slide the sub box back towards the rear and lock into place for placement. Might be too much effort if there is another solution.
ALSO, one more thing: Currently, my right rear window is always open about 3 to 4 inches. (I need a new window regulator) and until I get it fixed, it's always open. would this make that much of a difference?
Thanks for the suggestions
