So Ive been out of Car Audio for a while now, about 10 years now. My last system was a 10w7 with a JL 500/1 and a 300/2 on the front stage. I know about all the great "underground" companies out there and am blown away with the amount of choices. Ive tried my best to do all the research that I can but I am at a dead end.
I loved the output of the W7 and from what I recall it did pretty much of what I wanted. I did lack a little in the upper end but that could have been the box/cabin. I used the ported box specs for the enclosure.
This will be going into a 2014 Ford Escape. It has the Nasty 10 speaker Sony system that will eventually be replaced (stock speakers that is). Im looking right now for Sub and amp, with the option to get a 4 channel shortly after. At first I was set on the Sundown X-8 but Im afraid that it'd be a little to unforgiving on the top end. Im not sure if its more geared to Comps? I started looking at Sundowns SD line, either a 10 or 12. When I started doing more research, more and more brand/models started clouding my scope.
My initial plan is to build a box to see what I like (size, ported vs sealed), and then fiberglass the floor and build a false floor for a recessed sub. I mainly listed to EDM some dubstep (not a lot) a little rock and some Rap. So a little bit of everything. I love my lows, but I don't want a "one note wonder" either. Can you guys unconfused me? This is fairly budget limiting right now I could go as high as $600 for sub and amp, but Id like to leave a little left over for a 4 channel:
