NOOB with Bass blocker Question

I am installing a 4 speaker stereo for my motorcycle. Head unit Sony cdx-m30 marine unit- speakers- one pair boston acoustics s45 4inch, and one pair boston acoustics s55 5.25inch Obviously no room for a subwoofer on a motorcycle, and just using the 17watts rms 52 watts peak that the head unit produces. Would it be a good idea to put bass blockers on these to cut out up to around 150hz that these speakers don't produce efficiently anyway...or don't waste my time.

The bass isn't worth much at highway speeds anyway, but would like to be able to get more sound.

Yes CD has soudstage presets. I know when cranking it up to reduce the bass and definately turn off the loudness. I stumbled onto bass blocker info when ordering a new set of the 4inch speakers ( one of the ones I have has blown) and wondered if it would help or hurt. Fighting a 75mph wind is a challenge.

I understand your problem on the bike (I myself ride). I really feel they are a situation by situation type of thing. I would recommend buying a pair as they are so cheap and trying the speakers with and without and see what you like better.

Let us know your findings.

Again...I am noob-so I THINK I need non polarized capacitor about 250uF for 4 ohm speakers ??? and wire them into the positive speaker wire ????

I'll probable put them on left side only and test using balance between with blockers and without.

But some expert advise regarding what to buy would be greatly appreciated. Then I'll post results for anyone else that could benefit. Doubtful that the counter person at radio shack would know what I should get, and would like to know what I need when I go.

Thanks for the replies

Personally, I would not use them...I would adjust the settings on the cd player and leave it at that. But that is just me. I don't know your cd player well though.

I know they can be picked up on ebay for about 7 bucks.

What kind of bike do you have? Keep an eye on your voltage. I know music is different than a lighting load is, but when my dad had busted up his ankle crashing a glider I rode his 82 1100 goldwing into town. The bike has dual fog lights on it and just the extra 100 watts was enough that I could watch the voltage guage go down.
