Noob ? How much power

Maybe this is a dumb question but here go's. I have one shallow mount Pioneer 12 in a sealed box, rating on speaker says 350 RMS and 1400 Max. How much power should I put to it? Its a single 4 ohm VC. I was looking at the new Punch 75 which supposedly puts out around 630 bridged at 4 ohms. Is this too much? Somebody please educate me on understanding ratings on amps and speakers so I can spend my money wisely. Thanks in advance.

RMS rating on a sub means you can put X watts, ALL DAY LONG, in a spec box, w/o damaging the driver. With the amp you mentioned, properly set up, you should be fine.

To properly set up your amp, go to the gain setting tutorial.

Power a speaker with it's RMS rating. Ignore the MAX rating because it is a fabricated number, that means nothing.

So a 350 @ 4ohm amp will work fine.
