Noise only with Cell Phone on Volkswagen Head Unit w/ blitsafe adapter

I purchased a blitzsafe v5 to go with our monsoon in dash unit. the install went fine, and I grounded the adapter to the head unit. Put everything back and noticed when playing music on my iPhone, there is a lot of noise whether or not the car is off, or if it is running, etc.

I tried a different set of RCA--> 3.5mm cable, and that didn't do the trick either.

The strange thing is that it only makes the noise when the iPhone is plugged in. When I use my iPod it sounds great. Even turning my iPhone into airport mode (turns of cellular connections) still gives the sound.

Any ideas?

I thought of re-grounding the adapter to a piece of the car, but wanted to get everyone opinion before I attempted this.
