no power to jvc headunit

i am wiring up my duddy's jvc radio in his truck and for some reason whenever the truck is cranked or is in acc the radio will turn on long enough to display a good bye message and then turn off. immeadiate help is appreciated since im working on the truck right now lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

check to see if the antenna is got a good connection. that was my problem in my civic.. wouldnt stay on for nothing then i took it out and checked everything and the antenna wasnt getting a good connection

ok i just rigged it up to work. the radio stations will not stay there is something wrong with the memory. any suggestions for a solution?

is it the memory itself or possibilitys of a short in the harness going straight to the battery causing it to not keep anything?

idk one or the other lol it wont keep time, and it wont keep where u stop a song at on a cd it just starts the whole cd over

u can try runnin the 12v battery/constant (yellow wire) to the fusebox or straight to the battery, its possible it could fix it, because if the original wire in the car may have been messed up in some way.

What year make model of truck maybe we can get you a wiring diagram...........Is the factory harness intact or is it cut?

I forget what wire it is but its one of ur power either the acc or battery one, i had same problem either you wired it wrong or backwards. Also possibility the actual factory harness itself get a volt meter and check with key off on and started figure out which is which. easier to explain over phone 361 232 8939 if u dont understand figure it quicker then trying to be on forum and back out to car haha

lol yupp i never could get the thing to work. Well it all started with a call sayin hey my hu wont turn on lol. i told him id come over and check it out. when i got there he had no wirein harness and no dash kit lol after 90min of headache i got all of it but the memory problem to work out. I have some aftermarket speaks me and him are gonna play with tomorrow so ill try the wire direct to batt from hu tom that u mentioned bullet. The truck is a Mazda B2300 the stock HU has a ford wiring harness (go figure)

i ended up wiring the power wire straight to the batt + and it solved the whole memory prob thanks guys for all of the help.
