trying to install a cd player in someones 94 ford escort, he had an aftermarket cd player in that i took out an then I connected the red, yellow and black wires from the new one and no power at all so I wired the red, black, yellow of the old one to see if it was the cd player an still no power, im wondering if when i was pulling the wires out some to wire it up if it were possible to detach the ground or power wires from in the dash, I have no volt meter to check if the wires are indeed hot, but im stumped, no idea what could be the problem.... any ideas? thanks

Find the fuse box and locate which fuse is used for the radio, you can use the owner man. or guess around, it is probably a 10A fuse. This will make sure the red has switched power, if the player still doesn't come on you most likely have a blown fuse at the main distribution level, so that fuse is in a different box, most likely in the engine compartment.
