i was reading the tutorials, every way to set the gain on your amp is done with a DMM or an o-scope. unfortunately i dont have either. my headunit has 4volt preouts and all of the eq is flat. the dial on my amp goes from .2volts to 9volts. i figured out where on the dial 4volts is and put it there. is that correct? my Q doesnt seem likes its gettin loud like its sopost to.

amp = hifonics bxi 1208

sub = 10" fi q

headunit = pioneer 8000b

I use a DMM to keep my *** from getting electrocuted every time I work on something around the house. The last time it came in handy was when I had to change the elements on my hot water heater. My dạmn circuit breaker was labeled wrong! I need to change some outside lights next, and once again, my DMM will come in handy!

you can use DMM for other things besides car audio. Jeeze. Its a essential tool for all sorts of things around the house. And can prevent you from accidentally taking 120-240 volts. Just get one.
x2

I use my DMM at least twice a day...

But my other hobby is circuitry =\

id rather not go and buy something im going to use once lol
that is like saying "I just installed cylinder heads, it is very important that I tighten the bolts correctly but I don't have or want to buy a torque wrench because I'm only going to use it once"

If you are willing to buy the components, you have to be willing to buy the tools

I'd feel special if I were you, DeLeo... he registered just to tell you that you're dumb.

I think I bought the harbor freight one on black friday for $2 just for the hell of it. Seems to work ok, does it even measure AC, I've only used it for DC voltages and resistance, I just leave it in my car in case of emergencies, but I'm an EE so whenever I need to do anything serious I just borrow a Fluke from work. Might even borrow the small 2 channel o-scope during christmas to tune the system.
