no cash returns store credit only

Most shops do this because returning equipment. Because you don't like what you picked out isn't covered under any type of warranty There can be a restocking fee as well. Because once installed. It can't be resold as new unless your kevin (skar)

I would say 99 percent of the shops in my area do this is this common it the car audio retail world, I don't trust any shop that does this its just rubs me the wrong way
First and foremost any manufacturer warranty doesnt cover damage to subs caused by ignorance. Why else would you return it unless you simply dont like what you picked out? Why should the shop pay for the client not picking what they want? They lose money on having to sell as open box after that so it makes sense that they would make you spend your money there. You dont just get a free trial when ever you want.

I brought this up because a friend of mine last night bought a dash kit they gave him the wrong one they were closed by the time we went back so we went to Best Buy got the right onewent back the next day to return the wrong dash kit and they wouldn't give us the money back they said store credit so this shop lost a customer over a 20 dash kit

That would make it the shop's fault.Return should be given.

Does anyone check what a shop hands them before trying to install it? Even going to an auto parts store you open the package to make sure its the right thing before you leave. Why wouldnt this apply? Second it was installed and opened. Should have verified it was the right part in the first place.

The SHOP should have give him the right equipment. That's what the customer is supposed to get.Not an oops.

I agree to an extent.

The information they get only comes from the customer. They just look up a part number based on options installed in the vehicle. The shop wont know anything unless they physically look in the vehicle and confirm, which they wont do if they arent doing the install. Its then up to the customer to make sure it is infact the right part when installing especially if the shop isnt doing the work.

Depends on what it is. If its an electronic part they most certainly will not.

so why didn't you just go back the next day instead of buy the right one?
