no bass from my mids, why?

ok when i first tested my CDT's before i installed everything, the bass was killer (this was with just the 6.5 hooked up, only one. and not the tweeter. now that both mids, and both tweeters are all hooked up, it does not hit as hard as it did when just the one was in. u think maybe i wired them backwards? im sure i didnt. or is it because the HU was giving it twice the power since it was only putting power to one speaker instead of 4? i know, i know.. i need an amp. but i was impatient and wanted to get them installed lol... amp will be bought VERY soon

actually...i think it was by itself without the cros over. because i remember saying to myself, **** thats loud for free air. cuz it wasnt even mounted, it was just sitting on the floor. so no.. it was just the speaker, no xover. is that why?

yea. my 6x9's give out more bass than these mids do. are they mid range, or mid bass? i head highs(music) comeing fromt them, and they have a cone coming from the middle of the cone sticking out. that means its a midrange speaker right? midbass would look like a mini sub, correct?

component speaker systems separate the sound by only allowing mid-bass (no lows and no highs) to go to the woofer, and only allowing high frequencies to go to the tweeters. they aren't meant to play the frequencies that the subwoofer should be playing. the sub should only play the low bass and nothing else.

it's made to play frequencies that land in a certain range. mine play 85hz and up. my subs play 85hz and below. anything that's above 85 is played by the component woofer.

allright. theyre running off of my HU's power also. so once i amplify them, im hoping they should get x2 louder? i wanna get rid of my 6x9's and just run my comp set, but when i unplug my 69's the comps are there just not as loud as id like them to be. i belive each set handles 150w (im giving them, maybe 40-50 with my 390MP HU)

they'll be 100x better with an amp. most head units don't even put out the 40 they claim.

word. i cant wait to amplify them. i went thru my "i wanna be loud as ****" stage. im growing.. im loving the SQ side of things. an SQ system can still be pretty **** loud. i NEED it to sound amazing while doing it also. wont even begin to look for a sub/amp until im satisfied with my front stage. i belive ill deaden my doors, and upgrade to a better comp set. dont know what one yet tho...

good start to a good sq system. maybe some sealed door pods for the components also. that's my next crash course. i've never done it myself, but a guy at work has his comps in a sealed pod and they sound pretty fvckin' good.

thats my next step also before i upgrade. i need to buy new door panels first since i had to cut the hole bigger to mount these, then ill just make a pod under the panel. make sure its sealed. the way i have it mounted now leaks alot because i cut the holes a little to big, and couldnt get many screws in it. its held in very tightly, but not sealed. heres a picture
