as far as resistance goes... real world, no... corrosion prevention... theres a lil difference

ummm yeah... I pretty much figured that right off the bat. I was thinking more about the conductive and corrosive or lack of properties of each and if the gold plating was worth it.

gold vs. nickel really depends on your set up... if you're the type that like to change things up alot, then nickel will work fine for you. If you're the type that like to do an install that will stay exactly the same for years, i would go with gold... Mainly due to the fact that it corrodes slower than nickel, and even in an enclosed trunk or hatch, the amount of moisture in the air is constantly changing.

nickel is a okay conductor of heat and electricity and gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity I guess u would use nickel to ensure no short circuit between wires???idk but gold plated is more than likely nickel with a gold plate cover over it gives u a little more connectivity but I could be wrong

Well it sure as hell is not solid gold. If it was I would melt all of mine down and retire lol.

Gold is going to have lower resistance and last longer but unless youre competing in MECA and trying to sqeeze every 10th. I would just go with cheapest

Well yea, Gold plated is just a plating of gold... hence gold plated. Not sure where you were going with the rest of that post though :\

gold is used because it will not corrode. Silver is the best at conductivity
