NHL Thread.

Just thought I'd bring this thread back to the top. NHL reg season is now in full swing again.

My Red Wings are once again tops in the league in just about every category. This year it's Chris Osgood between the pipes. He's 16-2-1 and going strong. Hasek is the backup now. After being eliminated by Anaheim in the Western finals last year I think those young players are becoming mature enough for them to be legitimate contenders. Especially with Osgood's GAA as good as it is.

Discuss!!!

Best scouting in the league coupled with a strong hockey market and a long history is a good recipe for success. The Red Wings are always at the top. Not sure if they have what it takes for a cup run, but it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if they did win.

East still doesn't look as strong as the west this year, but with only a handful of teams (5) with below .500 records, every point makes a bigger difference than it did a few years ago. Ottawa is a paper tiger and doesn't have the chemistry or the goaltending to be a force in the post season. I like San Jose again this year, but they may faulter again come playoffs.

My Oil ****, of course. Penner is a good player, but not worth the draft picks in a decent draft year. Stoll shit the bed after his concussion, Torres is streaky again. On the plus side, Garon is playing well, especially on the road, and looks to be the future goaltender after Roloson's contract is up. Horcoff is getting the breaks and has turned into a great two way player that puts up a point a game. Hemsky still needs a trigger man, but is shooting more and will break his ATB for goals. Unfortunately a cheap knee has put him out for an undisclosed amount of time.

Well 4 Wings made the all star team including Osgood. Red Wings are pwning the NHL.
Yeah they are. My hometown //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif. Too bad minnesota pwned them in the shoot out last night. Reall good game though if anyone saw it.

Exactly. Kenny Holland is by far the best GM in hockey. Wings repeat, win 5th cup in 12 years.
They picked up Conklin to back up Ozzie. Great move that could payoff if Conks played like he did last season in Pitt- he saved that team from falling out of the playoffs down the stretch.

Interesting that Hossa signed a one year deal, too- good move for the Wings- they really didn't need Hossa to be contenders again, and they don't have to lock in to a long-term deal and worry about overpaying him if he fades in production.

I assume he's hoping he gets a cup, has a great season, and can get even more money on the market after next season.

BTW, Rangers signed Redden, and re-signed Roszival (sp?). Should give them a little better D and pk next season.

On another note, Boston Bruins signed Michael Ryder. He's my g/f's cousin. Runner-up in Rookie of the Year a few years back, had back-to-back 30 goal seasons, struggled last year and was in the hot seat all season long. Hopefully he can get his game back in Boston.

the wings are going to be pretty good next year as always,

solid defense core and keeping stuart helps as well.... solid top four defense and decent third pair

great offensive production, with many players being very good two way players....

i find it funny that we signed hossa, but whatever.... he'll probably be second liner along with franzen and filpila or cleary or something...

I believe Darren Helm will play a lot during the regular season, his playoffs probably locked him a spot on the team
