*News flash* New Z06 pricing..

Yea those are all good points.. but personally id rather be able to say "hey ive got this 88 mustang that'll eat Z06's all day long." rather than "hey check out my z06" .. but then again i guess that has alot to do with seeing 10-15 corvettes a day since the plant's about 10 minutes away.

No offence but fox body stangs are like a dime a dozen around here, theres a bunch of steeda stangs and a few turbo 4cyl and some other 5.slo with bolt ons.

Well, take your 17 year old Mustang with all the mods, and impending mechanical problems because of it...I'd still rather have a stock Z06 with a warrenty.s

 
personally id rather have a 94/95 .. i was just using the 88 as an example since it was mentioned eariler.

here for example 95 saleen with 600 rwhp probably about 25-30k. That'd leave you 30k for (repairs if necessary) and mods. for me theres no comparison between this and a Z06.

You're right, the Z06 will last for 100,000 miles, that wont.

Having an old foxbod is nowhere near as cool as the new Z06. Regardless of what it puts down at the track, you are still driving an old, beaten up ford, compared to a high hp/race ready Z06.... What would you rather drive home in? The chick magnet with balls, or the beater with balls?

Take you're run of the mill Mustang or STI and mod it to high heaven, it's still not a super car.
Exactly. You can mod anycar to be better than a ferrari, or lambo, but that doesnt make it a super car. Super car is something special and set aside with capabilites far surpassing most cars available. The new Z06 will be a super car eater.

thats a good point i didnt think of that. but then again if its an older muscle car that you could restore and then mod. such as adding a 427 that might be fun to do. although i dont know how much it would cost to do even though you might actually gain some on resale.
The new Z06 has a 427 in it. 427=7l

05 Mustang GT + 30,000 worth of modifications and I guarantee you that it can be over 500 hp and smoke the 65k worth that you'd have in a vette. Plus it'd be alot more fun to do the moding. Hmm couldn't ever bring myself to pay over 40k for a car that I could top by spending 20 + 20 worth of mods. for example.
So then tell that to everyone who bought an 03 cobra, or a EVO, or STi, or a c6,or a viper, or a lambo.... You can make a mustang GT fast, but its still a mustang GT.

Would you rather roll up in a stang, or a off-the-lot Z06?..

There's no point in arguing with you. I guess the only way to really find out is to ask the original poster. It looks pretty obvious to me that he is saying there is no other car race ready for a price of $65k that can match it.

Ok the vette is fricking awsome, end of story for me there. Sure you could throw a bunch of money into a mustang, etc, etc, and beat it in a stright line, cornering, prob not. Also, if you throw all that money into a 600hp mustang, whats it get for milage, 10mpg if lucky? While that new z06 will get what, 18-21mpg? (I am trying to remember figures from a couple issues back of Car and Driver...my numbers are not that far off though). Also, 7,000rpm from a push rod engine that will live 100,000 miles is very very impressive.

That's what some don't understand. Yes add the power. Go take your awd subaru and pump up the turbo, but how are you going to go 0-60 in 3.5 seconds like someone said when you have to shift in the subaru? On top of that the corvette wasn't designed to just be fast going straight its handling is insane. I saw on car and driver they had a guy driving the old z06 and basically said that it was turning lap times faster than a slightly older full race vette. This new one is going to be crazy. The old vette won on the road course against the viper and the cobra-R not because it has the most power, but because it got around the track fastest.
