Newb question, RCA cables, what is the small wire for?

You plug one end into your amp's "deebee" output, and the other end goes to the meter. Amps with more power will give you a higher score on the meter.

what "deebee" output are you talking about??

I have no experince with knu rcas but on other rcas, mostly older ones i have used this was a ground to help with noise issues

Ive seen RCA cables advertise that wire either way, for grounding, or for rem. Take your pick.

Okay, I tried to hook everything up except for this little wire(because I have no clue how to hook this dinky little thing up to anything!), and my amp/sub won't power on.....would that be why?

What kinda of connector do I need to get this thing connected to my amp and head unit? I just can't see putting this bare wire directly into the terminal....it could rip right out too easily.

Huh? If you are talking about the remote wire, that would explain why nothing turns on. You didnt expect your amp to work without all the wires hooked up did you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Just stick the wire in the hole, it doesn't need a jimmy hat or anything.
