What is the best way (best sounding) to play your iPod in your car? When I say best I mean with the least amount of static and distortion. I have heard/seen pictures of people that plug them into head units and also power/cigarete outlets. What is the better method, or is there any other? Thanks

Depends on your head unit. A lot of stereo manufacturers are now making adapters for ipods.

For example, I run my 60gb Ipod Photo to my alpine 9807 through Alpine's ipod-controller unit. It 1) provides for the cleanest, best connection possible. 2) recharges my ipod and 3) allows me to control the ipod from the head unit.

and it sounds fantastic. Every bit as good as a CD, if not better. I'd almost argue better, given the sound comes straight from a hard-drive, and not through an upconversion from mp3 to wav, to a burner, to a cd (that might eventually get scratches) to my cd player.

So.. depending on what type of head unit you have, you might be able to get such an adapter.

I dont know about that model but for the higher end pioneer models they have this unit.

this link shows you the unit you need. However, you also need to make sure your head unit has the input for it... not all pioneer head units are made equal. Of course, you have to make sure its a newer head unit, and the rule of thumb is that they have to be the more expensive head units. Try looking in the back of your head unit to see if it would accept something that looks like
