So I got my new powermaster battery for the front of my car. It's resting at 12.4 volts out of the box. Would it be worth it to run it on a charger for a bit before installing it, or just popping it in and going for an hour drive.
from the site or somewhere else i was going to try one of these or the stinger spv35 but ive seen some people with a civic and put a spv70 in there so i dont know
So what's a good AGM charger for not too much? I keep reading mixed messages about the chargers. I'm not going to need to charge my battery on a regular basis so I don't really want to spend a ton on a charger.
Best charger is your alternator //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Simply install it in your car and run the engine for about 30 ~ 60 mins. You can let it idle in your driveway, or you can drive it around. Just don't run your music while trying to charge it.
If you don't want to waste the gas, take it to Autozone for a free fast charge. Any AGM battery below 12.6v should be charged before use. If it comes out of the box above 12.6v, just go ahead and use it.
One more thing about new batteries. They will not be able to produce their full rated power until they are cycled about 10 times. So don't be discouraged if they seem weaker out of the box. I always suggest getting a good full charge on them, then run your music with the car off until you get the batteries to rest near 11.5v ~ 12.0v and then charge them back up again. Repeat this cycle 10 times and you will then have full power from your batteries.
