New World Driveby record at MECA finals

not my car at 20 feet a person thats in my class that beats me all the time had to show off and park some place around 15 to 20 feet and did low 30s after i rolled by the mic........didnt know there was a such thing as drive by records just like there is no trunk world records . we have no meca in the plains so have no clue as to the classes they run.... next season at stereo west or metro audio show. ill have to take a few vids .there are some loud drive by cars .. we should street beat 165 166 next year instead of the 159 160 we did this year so maybe ill try to do a meca show . sorry for the contraversy . we just do drive by for fun .

Perrillo could prolly bust a 67ish in sb5....shit he does 63s sealed..assuming his can play with doors open, since i heard he blows subs when he cracks windshields....maybe they it only loads correctly when all sealed...but who knows

thats a ok score we do it for fun in omaha after shows... there are a few that will do over that . the van we have will do mid 140s in drive by..
To add what others have said, that's NOTHING like actually metering in an actual driveby class.

Driveby is a 30 second average on LEGAL music, meaning a REAL cd. No test tones.

Only windows are allowed to be open.

You start 5 feet away from the mic and have to actually move the vehicle up to the mic.

Eric's van peaked out at a 138.4 in driveby, which in itself is another record.

You may do "140's in driveby" for fun at some show, but I can outright guarantee you'll get nowhere near a 140 in an actual driveby run.

Period

/conversation.

P.S. And for that video of hughes doing a 127 from 20 feet away or whatever, try facing the sensor towards the car in an open space and not towards you where the air can compress better. Hughes truck is definitely a loud demo vehicle, and I'm sure it's capable of 120's from 20 feet away, but I'll bet that it doesn't gain more than 3-4 dB by moving it only 6 feet away.

Hell, I can do a 124 just by closing my door.

Probably turning it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Niceeeee

2 random questions....Do most doing at least 125s in drive-by do at least over 145 in kick, or theres no way to tell that?

And, does anyone know this guy, Josh Bains?

He has like the exact same truck(color and all) as me and i was just wondering what his setup was and what not

Most cars I see doing 125+ are well over a 150 in the kick. More like 154-155, but it is vehicle dependent.

Josh Bain has 4 15's IIRC.

well i did over a 145 @ the headrest, and only a 122.8 (at most) in drive by. My car would do over a 150+ in the kick. And you have to remember were doing all this on a limited amount of fusing. a 125+ i would think not:(

Bob can do streetbeat with the door open, he did it at SVR this past year (I forgot the score, but i think someone said it was a WR at the time?) Ive personally seen him bassrace 162 with 9 amps and that was insane. I held a show up here this past summer, we had the mic on the table just reading, bob was parked 20 feet away and was doing 130's, but he had his doors open so im sure it doesnt really compare

Id love to see him try driveby, and i'd love to give it a try myself....But i dont think meca is up this far north

I remember hearing that bob once did a 128 in driveby with everything closed up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I'm sure bob could do mid 130's if he can get his subs to hold together for long enough. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hahaha i wouldnt doubt it, that van gets down.

Hell, with the numbers he was doing with 9 amps, he could have taken ss 5+ and bassrace

If he gets everything dialed in and holds with 18 amps, that thing will be nasty.

ya with the pic it does 159 to 160 in sb 5 had a bad day at finals this year and had to burp about 1 dozen times befor amp would stay out of protect for the second run as amp went into protect about 5 sec in first run .. needed larger remote wire to solve the problem..so bat power was way down and only did a 157.5 in sb5 .. but still a good showin for only 6 12inch T5s and 1 amp

Ok lets clear a few things up... tommyK I would have to totally agree with on BS. Now on on kick vs drive by. On old lin x in 03 I was doing a 155.6 outlaw and over a 130 drive by. But this wasn't the average score. But I do believe this was when the mic was at 8 feet. Unfortunately I messed up something on my final run but we had consistently tested that explorer at over 130's drive by and that was at 8 foot (I think well I know it was 6 or 8 pretty sure 8) . Best part was audiobahn subs... lol. Oh well. Now to which of those trucks are louder. FIRST that truck has the doors open... that is a BIG advantage. Now I heard both of those trucks at finals. the van and his truck and that van EASILY 4 times louder outside the car.
