Hi guys! Was wondering what you guys thought about the Pioneer Premier 3004spl 12" subs? I recently purchsed 2 of them. I was sold when I heard my buddies old school bronco and he had the Pioneer Premier 12" 2004spl's in his and the sound was very tight and accurate not to mention it was ported to spec. I am getting the same box but will be in a 02 cavalier. So hoping it will sound just as good. Tell me if you guys have heard any of the 3004spl's. Peace!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I had 1 sealed, and now 2 ported; no complaints as yet; Violent subwoofer.

I am sure that the ported box gives off louder bass but does it sound any better or is the bass more sloppy? I am looking into a good box but the ported one is alot more money compared to the sealed. Both the boxes are to spec of the woofer. Thanks!

Ported and tuned using the right materials will still give you very tight bass, only louder. A sloppy sound can only be had if the sub sucks or the box in question is not built properly. Bad box design can lend to many problems in bass reproduction. If you want a ported box, make sure the box is using the slot loaded port vs a tube port. Slot loading will keep the port noise down quite a bit and with proper speaker placement, you shouldn't have to worry one bit about cancellation of standing waves. Ported boxes will give you low bass notes as long as they are tuned low, but any note lower than the tuning will sound almost nonexistant by comparison. So, if the box is tuned around 27-32Hz... you should be fine.

The subwoofers are hardly broken in at this point; Everything is still very tight.
